Barrington firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:00 PM Sunday to a report of a large house fire at 71 Hills and Dales in Barrington Hills. Staging for fire equipment is located at Otis Road and Hills and Dales Road. Unknown if Otis Road is blocked.
Firefighters are requesting tenders or tanker equipment for a fire at a large rural estate home. No fire hydrants are in the neighborhood. Barrington Fire Department and Barrington Countryside Fire Protecion District called for a box alarm at about 2:15 p.m. Barrington Fire Department and Barrington-Countryside Fire Department work in an intergovernmental agreement in their rural and village community.
Buffalo Grove, Carpentersville, Cary, East Dundee, Hoffman Estates, Lake Zurich, Long Grove, Palatine, Palatine Rural, Rolling Meadows, Wauconda, Wheeling and other fire departments responded to assist Barrington.
One firefighter suffered a hand injury. A cat and a bird were rescued by firefighters during a search of the residence, which has a damage estimate of about $220,000.
The box alarm was struck out about 2:55 p.m. Sunday.
