Governor Scott Walker Explains His Mission on Wisconsin Austerity Measures
Newly elected Republican Gov. Scott Walker has set his sights on forcing public workers to pay more for benefits as he looks to balance the state’s budget.
Governor Scott Walker (R) Wisconsin explains that the austerity measures with Senate Bill 11 he believes are necessary because of the $3.6 billion deficit going into this session. Senate Bill 11 that is proposed in the 100th Session of the Wisconsin State Assembly eliminates collective bargaining, asks workers to pay one-half of their pensions, and pay a portion of their health care.
He also warns of the sizes of the cuts that the local governments are going to see, but adds that the Wisconsin state government will give local governments tools with SB 11 that will help local governments be able to balance their budgets.
