VIDEO: Two-SUV crash on westbound Palatine Road at Chestnut Avenue Friday night.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded just before 8:20 PM Saturday to an auto accident with injuries at the intersection of Palatine Road and Chestnut Avenue. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find two SUV’s in a crash at the intersection on the westbound side of Palatine Road. Both vehicles and debris from the crash covered the westbound express lanes and the westbound local lanes.
At least one person was injured and transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
Apparently a Dodge Durango crashed into the rear-end of a Nissan Pathfinder, and the Pathfinder was pushed into a tree.
Palatine Road was slick in both directions, and traffic was moderate-to-heavy. Arlington Heights police are investigating.
A snow-and-ice mix at Friday night’s rush hour was hazardous for motorists and was a factor in about 15 crashes in nearby suburbs.
Illinois state police responded to more than 100 reports of accidents on area expressways, including spinouts and cars in ditches. One rollover occurred at northbound I-290, south of Higgins Road.
