Before a 45-minute police pursuit with a taxi, a violent struggle with a worker at a 24-hour Subway restaurant occurred at about 6:00 a.m. Wednesday. Jose Santiago, 33, who has worked at the Subway almost five years, put up quite a fight with a male/black offender weighing 250 pounds, who attempted to rob the establishment.
The suspect fled after all of the money in the cash register was scattered on the floor during the struggle.
The suspect then ran outside and ripped the keys from the cab driver that brought the suspect to the Subway. During a struggle with the cab driver, who was apparently standing outside the cab, the suspect had his hands around the driver’s neck. The suspect ran to the cab and drove it away.
