Dear Paul B. Sports Readers,
I have been combing the newspapers, and “teletype releases” for any news on either Cubs or Sox ball clubs. I came away with this one, and its a doozy. Mark Buehrle rescues Shelby, a Sheltie who was found with an arrow protruding from this adorable dog. Mark (and wife Jaime) put out $2500 to help save this animal earlier this month. It came to my attention as well, that Mark & (wife) Jaime B.,have established a Sox For Strays organization, which allows Sox fans to “adopt a stray” before ball games at the park. Several dogs will be on display for those fans who may want a pet, and realize that these dogs can be adopted and are in need of some TLC. I think this is a fantastic demonstration of “giving back to the planet.” I am proud of the Buehrle family and hope that other athletes can spend some free time (you think they have 7 months or so?) to come up with their own charity, fund, donation or philanthropic philosophy. These guys are in the limelight, and have (thanks to the adoring fans) the opportunity to help others with their reputations and GREAT WEALTH.
I am still, even as we speak, digging for some Cubbie player (maybe Big Z?) that will come forward to match the contribution of Buehrle. Big Z could even begin a “free psychology screening” before every ball game for those suffering from anger management issues. See there, Big Z, I even introduced a fundraising opportunity for you. Please, don’t get mad at me if you are not fond of the idea–it’s just a thought. Peace!!!
