Buffalo Grove police, Mount Prospect police and Buffalo Grove firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:15 p.m. Saturday to a crash of a red Dodge Intrepid with a black Scion at the intersection of McHenry Road and Buffalo Grove Road. There was a fire reported in the Intrepid, with the smoke possibly caused by a transmission problem.
The driver of the Intrepid had been cutting people off in traffic in Buffalo Grove just before the crash.
Earlier the driver was being investigated for a ‘man with a gun’ incident at a Mount Prospect park, and was also in a short police pursuit in Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights near Rand Road and Euclid Avenue. Mount Prospect police had terminated the chase for public safety reasons after they confirmed the license plate information. The vehicle was last seen southeastbound on Rand Road from Euclid Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Fast forward to 2:15 p.m. Saturday when Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded to the crash at McHenry Road and Buffalo Grove Road.
The male driver was arrested. The driver’s vehicle was towed to Buffalo Grove Police Department headquarters for investigation. A weapon was found in the car.
No information available whether any accident victims were transported to the hospital. Some victims were signing medical releases with paramedics.
