Lake County Sheriff’s Police Department (Indiana) received a report Tuesday reported of a shot or shots fired into a rear window, a passenger side mirror, and a front windshield on a vehicle traveling west on 109th Avenue between Randolph and Colorado streets about 4:05 p.m.
The Porter County Sheriff’s Police Department received two reports of criminal damage to five parked vehicles in western Porter County. The vehicles were likely hit by shots from BB guns
These crimes were also reported along the 109th Avenue border with Lake County.
The rear windows of two vehicles were smashed while parked side-by-side in a driveway in the 500 West block of Division Road. The crime is reported to have occurred between 6 p.m. Sunday and 8:50 a.m. Monday. People were home at the time but did not report hearing any shots.
Also, the back window of a truck was smashed between 2 p.m. Sunday and 7:40 a.m. Monday, while parked in the 100 South block of County Road 600W. A second vehicle at the same address on County Road 600W had its rear window shot out on Friday. A resident nearby reported she discovered a new dent in her vehicle on Friday. Police said the damage on the metal was consistent with damage that would occur from BB shot.
Each county is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Sheriff’s police departments from both counties are investigating.
