Krystyna Kowalewski, 22, of Hoffman Estates was killed instantly in a crash on Interstate 290 near Irving Park Road and near Thorndale Avenue about 3:35 a.m. Friday.
Krystyna Kowalewski was driving a red Pontiac Grand Am westbound on I-290 when she clipped the rear end of a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway and hit a tree directly on the front of the driver’s side door.
The two right lanes of westbound I-290 were blocked for investigation of a fatal accident and wreckage removal during Friday morning’s rush hour near Itasca and Elk Grove Village. The scene was cleared about 7:00 a.m. Friday.
