Harvard Fire Department responded just before 8:00 p.m. Saturday to an extra alarm fire at 45 North Ayer Street in downtown Harvard. The extra alarm was raised to a 4th alarm just before 8:20 p.m. Firefighters were extinguishing hot spots after 10:00 p.m.

Fire departments from Belvidere, Fontana (Wisconsin), Marengo, McHenry, Richmond, Roscoe, Walworth (Wisconsin), Woodstock, Union and others responded to assist Harvard.
The air temperature at 8:15 p.m. Saturday was -1°F in Harvard, Illinois, certainly making firefighting operations difficult.
