A total of 1.0 inches of new snow fell from Tuesday just before 1:45 a.m. and is underway in Arlington Heights. Snow was dry and powdery — not good packing snow. Snow cover at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday was 1.0 inches in Arlington Heights. Accumulation on pavement was also 1.0 inches of snow. Radar shows the snow is in the area with circulation from southwest to northeast.

The Indiana-Michigan area could be in for signifiant Lake Effect Snow of 6 inches or more. Northeast Illinois could also get some Lake Effect Snow. The snow today will fall lightly, but will be prolonged — all day until about 8 PM to 10 PM.
There has been no snow cover on the ground since December 31, 2010.
