Mount Prospect police received a report just after 12:20 a.m. Saturday of two suspicious men walking through a parking lot and looking into cars at the Oak Terrace Apartments in the 300 block of Hawthorne Circle, Mount Prospect. The men were described as one wearing a black hoodie and one wearing a white hoodie. The witness could no longer see the subjects, but updated the police that the officers were walking the parking lot in the same direction as the subjects
About 10 minutes after the call was received, a Mount Prospect police officer announced the subjects were ‘gone on arrival’. Then, a minute later a second police officer announced that suspects matching the description were spotted and being questioned.
Mount Prospect police apprehended the two men and transported them in custody to Mount Prospect Police Department Headquarters.
The alert citizen’s report of two men looking into car windows early Saturday in a Mount Prospect Oak Terrace Apartments parking lot resulted in felony burglary charges against Hristo Donev, 23, and Geno Uzunov, 18, of Rosemont.
Assistant County County State’s Attorney Jennifer Walsh reported the men were looking to take money and valuables from unlocked vehicles in the parking lot in the 300 block of Hawthorne Circle, and left footprints in the snow linking them to the crime. Donev removed a stereo from one car, Walsh added.
Judge Edward N. Pietrucha set bond at $10,000 for Hristo Donev and $5,000 for Geno Uzunov. Both men are scheduled to return to court January 28, 2011.
