Buffalo Grove police received a report of a motor vehicle theft at Prestige Auto Leasing, 88 East Dundee Road.
Dealer reported that a vehicle was delivered to a customer and a wire transfer was sent for payment. It was later determined that the wire transfer was fake. The customer then claimed a check was sent via UPS and when the dealer checked the tracking number found that it did not exist. The dealer then sent a FedEx shipping label to the customer who never used it. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.
The crime unfolded over a period of January 7, 2011 and January 20, 2011.
If they were able to keep in contact with the customer, how could they not pin point their location?
