STRENGTHEN AS IT CROSSES NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND SOUTHERN LAKE
MICHIGAN TONIGHT. RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE ACROSS NORTHEAST
ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA THIS AFTERNOON. RAIN WILL MIX WITH
AND CHANGE TO SNOW LATE THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTH
CENTRAL ILLINOIS… GENERALLY ALONG AND WEST OF INTERSTATE 39.
DRIER AIR WILL MOVE IN ALOFT THIS EVENING BRINGING A DECREASE IN
WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION FOR MUCH OF THE AREA BUT A CORRIDOR OF
RAIN AND SNOW…WHICH WILL TURN TO SNOW DURING THE EVENING…MAY
CONTINUE FROM ROUGHLY ROCKFORD EAST-SOUTHEAST TO CHICAGO WITH
LIGHT ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE. FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL BE POSSIBLE
ALONG AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 88 WITH A LOWER POTENTIAL NORTH OF
INTERSTATE 88 WHERE STEADIER PRECIPITATION IS POSSIBLE.

THE LOW WILL MOVE FURTHER EAST INTO SUNDAY MORNING BRINGING A
SURGE OF BITTERLY COLD AIR SOUTHEASTWARD INTO THE AREA.
ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL ACCOMPANY THE COLD AIR ALONG WITH VERY
STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS WHICH WILL GUST IN EXCESS OF 45 MPH AT
TIMES. THIS COMBINATION OF COLD…SNOW..AND WIND WILL ARRIVE
ACROSS NORTH-CENTRAL ILLINOIS EARLY TONIGHT AND EXPAND
SOUTHEASTWARD REACHING THE CHICAGO METRO AREA AROUND OR SOON

THROUGH THE MID MORNING HOURS.
