Arlington Heights police received a report about 6:30 PM Wednesday of a solicitor complaint in the 600 block of East Grove. Police received a report of a male/black about 18-years-old with a clipboard. The resident said he didn’t know what he was selling.
AT&T is on an aggressive campaign in neighborhoods to sign people up for U-Verse. They are claiming to offer competitive prices beating Comcast.
About three weeks ago AT&T was on a telephone call campaign, saying that technicians were going to setting up a fiber optic network in the neighborhood in the next few weeks. The callers were reluctant to identify that the service was U-Verse.
The technicians or field sales people are known to come to the door for sales of U-Verse even though the offer was rejected on the phone. Then residents receive another sales call on the telephone.
It was not confirmed if the subject of this solicitor complaint was an AT&T representative. No word on any police contact with the subjects, and no arrests reported.
