Protesters attacked a car carrying Prince Charles and his wife as a hike in tuition fees triggered Britain’s worst political violence in years. An AP photographer captured the royal couple’s shock while a local man recorded the chaos on his mobile phone.
“What do you have to say, Prince!” and “Off with their heads!” were heard in shouts from the protesting crowd.
Protesters in London have attacked a car containing Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
Witnesses saw demonstrators kick the car in Regent Street and reported a window of the car broken in the heart of London’s shopping district. White paint was splattered on the back of the car. Prince Charles’ car then drove away. There were no injuries reported in the car attack incident.
British lawmakers on Thursday approved a controversial plan to triple university tuition fees by a narrow margin after some government legislators rebelled amid violent protests outside Parliament (This video shows protest; it does not show the attack on the car).
