Small Plane Crash on Roof of Xsport Fitness, Naperville Naperville Fire Department and police responded to a report just after 12:00 p.m. Wednesday of a small plane crash into the roof of XSPORT Fitness, 2780 Fitness Drive.
A Piper PA-32R-300 took off south to north from an airstrip (Runway 36) in Aero Estates – – a subdivision just south of XSPORT FITNESS. The small plane smashed into a turret, tower-like structure in the southwest corner of the XSPORT building. The turret is just over a top-floor basketball court, which was not occupied at the time of the crash. Police Activity Palatine Road for Standoff with Armed Man in House, Domestic Situation Arlington Heights police responded about 11:50 p.m. Sunday to a report of a domestic situation with an injured juvenile in the 400 block of West Palatine Road. Police surrounded a house in the 400 block of West Palatine Road and blocked off Palatine Road in both directions between Arlington Heights Road and Kennicott about midnight.

Devastating Fire at Wings Resale Store 756 East Northwest Highway in Palatine Palatine Fire Department responded to a burning transformer and arcing power lines in the 700 block of East Northwest Highway about 4:00 p.m. Friday. Either high winds or a lightning strike caused a transformer problem and a downed power line. At first firefighters reported a primary line down near the building at 756 East Northwest Highway, and evacuated customers and employees from the building after a severe thunderstorm came through the area — just before 4:00 p.m. A high volume of emergency calls for downed lines and downed trees from a severe thunderstorm started coming in to Northwest Central Dispatch 9-1-1 Center and Com Ed at about 4:00 p.m. After a few minutes on the scene at 756 East Northwest Highway, Palatine police and firefighters reported smoke coming from the building. Arcing on the north side of a truss roof building ignites the roof. Notice late in the video that the arcing at the north wall causes sparking and arcing along the gutter of the whole east side of the building. First sparking gutter caught on video just after 6:26 and then easier to see at 8:50 and following to the end of the video.
