Julian Assange turned himself in to Scotland Yard on Tuesday morning, and was sent to the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court in the early afternoon. He showed no reaction as Judge Howard Riddle denied him bail and sent him to jail until his next extradition hearing on December 14.
Assange faces rape and sexual molestation allegations in one Swedish case and sexual molestation and unlawful coercion in another. Assange has denied the allegations, which he claims are actually a “dispute over consensual but unprotected sex” dating back to August.
Two women claim they were sexually assaulted by Julian Assange — one an ‘attractive’ blond and radical feminist, and the other an activist groupie — during a period of time when Assange was in town for a seminar and hooked up with two women.
The story taking shape is that the radical feminist had sex with Assange first while he was staying at her apartment. Then the groupie had sex with Assange, and had remorse, especially since Assange refused to wear a condom. In distress, the groupie talked to the feminist. Then the feminist wanted Assange out of her apartment. Then the rape accusations began.
Some people in Sweden believe the whole affair with the two women is a United States dirty tricks plot to snag Assange in a sexfalla, which translates loosely from the Swedish as a ‘honeytrap’ (see Urbandictionary.com).
Assange is fighting extradition to Sweden.
