Arlington Heights police responded about 4:30 PM Wednesday to a report of a ‘Gypsy’ scam in the parking lot at Best Buy, 615 East Palatine Road. Two male/Hispanics were reported to be damaging vehicles by denting vehicles in the Best Buy parking lot and were then offering to repair the vehicles when people returned to their cars. One male/Hispanic also threatened to harm one of the victims.
The offenders were described as two male/Hispanics. Subject #1 was described as the driver — a male/Hispanic about 25-years-old with a shaved head. Subject #2 was described as a passenger — a male/Hispanic with a shaved head, wearing a blue T-shirt and gold chain.
The offenders left in a black Chevy SUV. Arlington Heights police are investigating. No word on any police contact with the subjects, and no arrests reported.

They were more likely than not Romani Gypsies, rather than Hispanic. There’s a large concentration of them in Chicago.
