Elk Grove Township firefighter/paramedics responded with a pin-in crew just before 9:10 p.m. to a crash on eastbound Interstate 90 (9.2 mile marker), just west of Arlington Heights Road. A disabled 1999 Nissan was stalled in the center lane of the eastbound Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) when it was rear-ended by an eastbound 2005 Honda. The crash pushed the Nissan into a guard rail. Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics responded with an engine and rescue ambulance as the second ambulance to the scene.
Dafni Petroova, 43, of Chicago was injured in the Nissan and transported by Elk Grove Township paramedics to Level I Trauma Center Advocated Lutheran General Hospital. Petroova, the only person in the Nissan, was pronounced dead at Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 10:04 p.m. according to officials from the Cook County medical Examiners Office. Petroova was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Two victims, a father and a young daughter in the Honda, were evaluated on the scene by Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics. No word on their destination hospital or whether they were transported to a hospital.
An autopsy is expected to be performed on Petroova early Friday.
