A Winter Weather Advisory that includes ARLINGTON HEIGHTS has been updated with an increase snow depth forecast of 3-6 inches. The snow began over one hour late from forecast. Light snow has been falling since just before 4:30 p.m. Radar indicates heavy snow is falling in a band just west of Arlington Heights from Rockford southeast through Kane County, DuPage County and Will County.
SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 1.5 INCHES PER HOUR ARE
EXPECTED AS THIS BAND MOVES ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING.
The band will pass through the northwest suburbs, Arlington Heights, and the northern suburbs during the next couple of hours from about 6:30 p.m. until about 10:00 pm. — then light snow will continue until morning.
The snow is still expected to change over to freezing drizzle — possibly about 7:00 a.m. Precipitation is forecast to end about 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.
National Weather Service confidence in snow forecast is high. There is no chance of seeing the lunar eclipse tonight in the Chicago area.
