FLASHBACK
On September 3, an offender described as a male/Hispanic in his 40’s, 6’1″ 220 LBS with thinning hair, had approached Letkiewicz while he was taking out the garbage. The offender demanded money, and punched Letkiewicz when he refused.
Letkiewicz eventually gave up $40, but the suspect forced Letkiewicz into his house and took his wallet with $100.
Letkiewicz called Chicago police and filed a police report of the incident.
The offender apparently returned to Letkiewicz’s house some time in October. A neighbor who was concerned because he had not seen Letkiewicz for a few days, entered the home with a key Letkiewicz had given him, and found Letkiewicz lying underneath a dresser. He was seriously injured from a beating.
The neighbor called 911, and Letkiewicz was able to give a description of the man he believes attacked Letkiewicz.
The case was upgraded to a homicide case, as Stanley Letkiewicz was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center.
