The new no-controller control system, Kinect for Xbox 360, hits stores next week. In AP’s weekly Video Game Video, Ubisoft offers a preview of its motion-sensing Kinect games.
Kinect is scheduled to launch worldwide starting with North America on November 4, 2010. Kinect for Xbox 360, or simply Kinect (originally known by the code name Project Natal, is a “controller-free gaming and entertainment experience” by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform, and may later be supported by PCs via Windows 8. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360’s audience beyond its typical gamer base. It will compete with the Wii Remote with Wii MotionPlus and PlayStation Move motion control systems for the Wii and PlayStation 3 home consoles, respectively.
Kinect Sports is an upcoming video game for Xbox 360 that uses the Kinect peripheral. The game is being developed by Rare and is expected to be one of 16 titles launching alongside the peripheral. The game allows multiple players to engage in six different motion-controlled sports, with many challenges for each experience. It includes a Sports Party mode that allows one to compete against a friend, rally a whole room full of players into teams.
The reviews for the kinect motion sensor all seem to be horrible, hopefully they can fix the problems or the main feature will probably be a flop.
