William P. Curl, 34, of DeKalb, is charged with first-degree murder, criminal sexual assault and arson in the death of art student Antinette “Toni” Keller, 18, of Plainfield. Curl could face the death penalty if convicted of the crimes.
Badly burned remains believed to be Keller’s were discovered in Prairie Park in DeKalb on October 16, 2010 — two days after she told friends she was headed to the area. Police withheld information regarding the discovery of the remains because the remains had to be sent out of state for a forensics study to confirm that the remains were in fact human.
A $5 million bail was confirmed this morning for the William P. Curl during a DeKalb County court hearing.
