Two months before its due for release on the 16th November, Lee DeWyze’s as yet untitled Album soared up the charts. September 16th was declared “Operation Album Spike” and fans were encouraged to pre-order and spike sales of the Album. It seems to have worked.
The album rose up to 11,895% on the Amazon charts keeping it at the top of the movers and shakers list all day. Peaking at number 1 and settling in at number 2 and 3 behind Bob Dylan. On Amazons Music Charts Lee rose to number 21 and on iTunes pop charts broke the top 20 at number 19, while getting to #151 on the iTunes Album charts.
Spearheading the operation was “Lets Do this 4 Lee” ( Letsdothis4leedewyze.com ) set up by two fans Marama C and Robin H, who met on twitter.
Robin: “Lee is amazing to his fans, and this was a way to give back to him. We believe in him & his career and that’s what this was all about.”
Marama: “…to be honest we were completely blown away by the response. Lee’s been working so hard on the album, its great to see how enthusiastic everyone is about it. We are looking forward to seeing Lee at the top of the charts for a long time.”
One fan group has even come up with a way to support the troops while taking part in the promotion. The “Wyze Guys and Gals” have been taking donations towards gifting DeWyze’s Album to the troops. All donations received by Spike day were put to orders for Operation Album Spike. More will be purchased until the release on 16th November and then shipped to the troops in time for Christmas.
Lee DeWyze’s Album can be preordered on both Amazon and iTunes.
