Three-alarm fire at 1326 South Michigan Avenue in an abandoned commercial building Tuesday morning.
Chicago Fire Department responded about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to a fire in a commercial building at 1326 South Michigan Avenue. Winds were holding at 12 to 20 mph during the fire, and gusting to over 30 mph. The fire was raised to a second alarm with fire through the roof and then a third alarm just before 4:30 a.m. with heavy winds and a natural gas line keeping the fire going. A second building also burned during firefighting operations. The fire was struck out just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday with firefighters continuing to work on hot spots.
