Mount Prospect Fire Department battled a house fire in the 1400 block of Park Drive about 11:00 a.m. Monday. Firefighters reported heavy, black smoke as they approached the scene, and fire showing as they arrived on the scene. Fire departments from Des Plaines, Glenview and Prospect Heights assisted Mount Prospect firefighters.
Arlington Heights and North Maine stood by in fire stations in Mount Prospect, which proved to be smart planning because multiple ambulance were request for Mount Prospect during the firefighting on Park Drive. Those calls in included a crash at Elmhurst and Kensington at about 11:30 a.m. and a medical emergency at the fire prevention office at about 11:40 a.m. An Arlington Heights rescue ambulance and a North Maine fire engine responded to those two incidents. Other incidents were managed by other Mount Prospect firefighter/paramedics.
