Chicago police are investigating two Friday burglaries at Southwest Side homes of two officers in which thieves made off with a Chicago police star, uniforms, a gun and other equipment, a police source said.
In one case the crime is reported to have occurred between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. when a female police officer was not home. An offender or offenders stole a .9mm handgun, a gun belt, ammunition, a bullet-proof vest, the officer’s police star, and several television sets.
In the second case an offender or offenders forcibly entered a garage of the second officer’s home, but did not make it inside the officer’s home. The crime is reported to have occurred between 4:30 and 7 p.m.
The offender or offenders forcibly entered two vehicles in the garage and stole a Chicago Police Department uniform shirt with name plate as well as a pair of handcuffs.
A car stereo was also reported stolen.
