Elk Grove Village firefighters knocked down a fire at 1350 Greenleaf Avenue in Elk Grove Village about 6:00 p.m. Saturday. A malfunction in a deep fryer apparently caused the fire. Firefighters from Des Plaines, Hoffman Estates, Itasca and Rosemont either responded to the fire or assisted Elk Grove by standing by in their fire stations for the rest of the village.
The Elk Grove Village health department was called to check on the safety of food for the seafood preparation business.
