Police in Steger responded about 3:30 a.m. Monday to a one-car crash at Steger Road and Carpenter Street that involved a DUI driver that crashed the car into a tree. The crash killed a 5-year-old boy. Cecil Connor, 22, who had minor injuries, is apparently the boyfriend of the mother and driver of the car. The mother was not in the car. A police official was standing by with the driver at the hospital. DUI charges were filed against Cecil Connor during the day, Monday. The Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.
