Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:10 p.m. Thursday to a hit-and-run crash involving a red Ford Ranger pickup truck and blue Volkswagen Jetta and a black Toyota Camry. One of the victims chased the offending vehicle into the Tanglewood Apartments area. Witnesses told police on the scene that the offending vehicle pulled into the Merlin’s muffler dealer parking lot, and them fled eastbound on Seegers. The offending vehicle was described as a early 1990’s black Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima. The front bumper was hanging almost completely off. Police were searching the area south of Seegers and north of Algonquin Road and east of Arlington Heights Road.
Just before 5:10 p.m. Arlington Heights police had received a call that a black Toyota Camry was driven across the grass at Tanglewood Apartments, damaging the grass — and parked in a fire lane. The Toyota had heavy front end damage and was located by police in the 2100 block of South Goebbert Road about 5:20 p.m. An Arlington Heights police officer had the driver in custody at just after 5:30 p.m. One hit-and-run driver (gender unknown) transported to Arlington Heights police headquarters at about 5:45 p.m. The driver’s Toyota Camry with heavy front-end damage was towed to a police holding area.
Arlington Heights Fire Department firefighter/paramedics transported at least one victim of the accident to Northwest Community Hospital.
