Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics responded to a head-on collision about 4:20 p.m. Thursday that killed both drivers. A tan 2004 Nissan Maxima, driven by Oscar Arce, 24, from North Aurora, crossed the solid yellow line while eastbound on Route 68 between Lakeview and Dundee Lane. During crossover, the Maxima crashed into a white 2002 Buick LeSabre driven westbound by Sarah Yaple, 84, of St. Charles. Eloy Arce, 25, a passenger in the Maxima was injured.
Palatine Fire Department responded with a mutual aid rescue ambulance. Barrington and Barrington Hills police managed traffic and investigation at the scene. The Major Crash Assistance Team and Barrington Hills police are managing the investigation.
