A tornado touched down Saturday afternoon in Yazoo City, Valley Park and Durant, Mississippi. At least nine people were killed by a 3/4-mile wide tornado. Mississippi Emergency Management Agency spokesman Greg Flynn reported five people were killed in Choctaw County, 3 in Yazoo County and 1 in Holmes County. Two of the dead in Choctaw County are children. Multiple buildings were damage in the tornado.
The amount of debris caused rescuers to use All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) for search, rescue and transportation of victims. More than 15 other counties were also damaged. Aerial
