Graphic from Arlington Heights police artist modified to show approximate location of severed lower body and show the ‘Laugh Now, Cry Later’ tattoo.
Arlington Heights police released images of the three tattoos that existed on the body with only legs and pelvis were found near a dumpster in a back parking lot at Marketview Apartments, 11 South Dryden Place last Friday about 4:26 p.m.
The image of a smiling joker was displayed on the right side of the pelvis and the image of a sad joker was displayed on the right side. The joker faces were about three inches tall, but the top half of the joker faces were missing apparently on the upper half of the body. The Arlington Heights police sketch artist filled in the top half of the joker faces for illustration purposes. The upper body was severed from the lower body by a sharp instrument. The two joker faces are known as the ‘Laugh Now, Cry Later’ image — believed to be gang related.
A letter ‘C’ about one-inch tall was displayed on the man’s right knee.
Police investigators and the Cook County Medical Examiner do not know if the man was killed by the severing or if he was killed before the severing of his lower body. Arlington Heights police are asking citizens who might know anything that would help identify the white or Hispanic male victim to call the Arlington Heights Police Department at (847) 368-5300.
