The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for several counties in northeastern Illinois and northwestern Indiana that is scheduled to remain in effect through tonight. The air quality alerts have been issued for Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Grundy, Kendall, and Will counties in Illinois; and Lake and Porter counties in Indiana.
The air in northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana is deemed ‘Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.’ The general public is not likely to be affected. The cause of the air quality is weather conditions that trap pollutant particles in the region.
