Arlington Heights police responded to a report about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday from a mother that her daughter was being struck in an assault by a male offender at an unknown address near Our Lady of Wayside Church. The mother’s husband and son were out in a vehicle in an attempt to rescue the daughter. Arlington Heights police caught up with the family vehicle in about two minutes near Fairview and Mitchell Avenue. Police searching the area heard a fight going on inside a house in the 600 block of South Mitchell Avenue and went in to investigate. They found the offender inside the house. The offender was arrested and transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters at about 1:05 a.m. Tuesday.
