Police searching the neighborhood and setting up a perimeter for blocks around the site of an attempted burglary in Scarsdale.
Arlington Heights police received a report about 9:20 p.m. Saturday of an attempted burglary in progress in the 500 block of South Pine Avenue.
A resident in a back room of his house heard the front door push open. He rushed to the front and yelled at an offender he saw in the doorway. The offender, who could only be described 5’8″ immediately fled the house.
Arlington Heights police responded immediately and started a search of the immediate neighborhood in Scarsdale. Police also searched inside the house to make sure there wasn’t a second offender.
Police set up a perimeter at streets and intersections near the 500 South Pine Avenue address for about 30 minutes while backyards and parked cars were thoroughly checked.
No offender was found Saturday night in cold weather with an air temperature of only 4° F at 10:00 p.m.
