Two crashes involving trucks vs. cars were reported Saturday afternoon. About 2:20 p.m. Saturday a semi-trailer truck and a blue Honda Odyssey crashed at the South Palatine Frontage Road and Yale Avenue. There were no injuries, but air bags were deployed in the mini-van, which had moderate-heavy front, left damage. Next at about 3:20 p.m. a Groot garbage truck and a green Pontiac Grand Am crashed at Vail Avenue and Vine Street. The Pontiac was not drivable after the crash, which caused no injuries.
Several other crashes occurred throughout Arlington Heights. A crash was reported on Marshall, also at Arlington Heights Road and Rand Road.
Two crashes occurred at Campbell Street and Dunton Avenue Saturday afternoon. One crash involved a one-car accident on the 400 block of West Haven. At the Haven crash, a car with six passengers attempted to flee the scene after damaging private property in the front yard of a residence. Unknown if any arrests were made.
All the traffic woes were aggravated or caused by a surprise winter storm Saturday. A Winter Storm Warning was issued Saturday after a morning forecast only called for one to two inches. The heaviest snowfall (possibly over 12 inches) is expected to occur in the northwest portions of Cook County. Arlington Heights snowfall amounted to 7.75 inches from Christmas Day at 5:00 pm. through Saturday, December 26th at 6:15 p.m. (Check snowfall amounts at Arlingtoncards.com/snow …)
