Minutes after a local police alert for an armed robbery suspect and vehicle description was announced to local police departments at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, the reported vehicle and suspect were sighted near Arlington Heights Road and Oakton Street at about 9:25 p.m. Lake Zurich police had put out an alert that a Hoffman Estates resident was wanted for questioning about an attempted armed robbery last week at a Dollar Tree in Lake Zurich. The 6’2″ 320-pound male/white was missing and presumed to be traveling in the northwest suburbs. He was also reported to be armed with the handgun used in the armed robbery.
The suspect, driving a black Ford Taurus, was sighted driving recklessly on southbound Arlington Heights Road at Oakton Street. He passed Euclid all over the roadway on Arlington Heights Road and turned right at Northwest Highway. He was apprehended at a traffic stop at Northwest Highway and Dunton Avenue just after 9:25 p.m. He was taken into custody after a felony traffic stop procedure by Arlington Heights police and held at Arlington Heights Police Headquarters. The black Ford Taurus was towed to a police holding area.
