Arlington Heights police received a report about 9:00 a.m. Wednesday of a woman trespassing the XSPORT Fitness facility in the womens’ locker and the roof of their 8,000 square foot leased facility. Witness said she was only covered by a towel when she was on the roof. Somehow she accessed a fixed ladder or staircase to the roof of the retail shopping area that includes Kohls, Harbor Freight Tools, Fox and Hound, a Subway and more. Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics, and Buffalo Grove firefighter/paramedics helped the woman. No known arrest was made by police officers.
“Up on the Roof” is a song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King and recorded in 1962 by The Drifters. Released at the tail end of that year, the song became a big hit, reaching number 5 on the U.S. pop singles chart and number 4 on the U.S. R&B singles chart. It is one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. Among many great versions of the song, the other well-known version in the U.S. is James Taylor’s version, which was released as a single, charting modestly into the Top 30 of the U.S. pop singles chart in 1979.
