Arlington Heights police received a report about 9:30 p.m. Monday that an injured man was sitting down near the railroad tracks at Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway. The man appeared to be bleeding as a result of a beating according to the passerby, who did not stop in the area of the injured man. When police and paramedics arrived, the man was no longer in the area. Police searched the downtown area and found a trail of blood in the 0-100 block of South Evergreen Avenue. At about 10:00 p.m. police found the man with a lot of blood loss in a stairwell near 21 South Evergreen Avenue. Paramedics were called over to the new location, and treated the man in the stairwell.
