Arlington Heights police received a report about 2:30 p.m. Thursday that criminal damage to property occurred at Memorial Park at Fremont Street and Chestnut Avenue. Vandals wrote an obscene phrase in black on the center pentagon piece of Memorial Park. The vandalism is reported to have occurred between Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
Memorial Park is a special use park with war memorials, ornamental gardens, a flag pole and picnic area.
As Arlington Heights police were taking report of the vandalism at Memorial Park, police officers from Rolling Meadows Police Department were holding and arresting several youths for graffiti placed near Euclid Avenue and Wilke Road.
