Arlington Heights police and Rolling Meadows police were in the Westgate neighborhood looking for an armed robber who hit the Marathon gas station for cash at 3 North Wilke Tuesday night about 9:45 p.m.
Arlington Heights police responded to report of an armed robbery about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday night at the Marathon gas station at the corner of Wilke Road and Campbell Street in Arlington Heights.
The offender was described as a male/white or male/Hispanic in his 20’s, about 5′ 5″ tall with a thin build, hair color unknown. He was wearing a dark blue pullover hooded sweatshirt with the hood up. He was also wearing a white bandana covering his face. The suspect displayed a silver handgun and robbed the station of cash.
Police setup a perimeter in the Westgate neighborhood and other neighborhoods near the gas station. The suspect fled on foot in a southeast or east direction. Arlington Heights police also deployed their K-9 unit to trail the suspect. Results of the K-9 unit are unknown.
Police searched neighborhoods while a wind advisory existed with winds gusting up to just over 41 mph. Police squads were set up at several intersections in the area to guard the perimeter on this windy October night while lightning flashed in the north sky. A few small branches also littered the street.
