Anthony J. Peters, 29, was arrested by Milwaukee police about noon Sunday near 17th St., and State St. after he was sought for the beating of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. Mayor Barrett was leaving the Wisconsin State Fair at 10:45 p.m. in the 8800 block of W. Orchard St., West Allis at State Fair Park when he was assaulted.
Mayor Barrett was beaten and injured seriously as he intervened and attempted to stop Anthony Peters from threatening others, namely a grandmother and a child. Mayor Barrett also called 9-1-1 during the incident, which is when Peters began striking him with a metal pipe, which caused injuries to the head and torso. Medical treatment for the mayor included stitches for lacerations on the head and lip, and surgery for a fractured hand — an injury inflicted when the mayor thinks he hit the suspect or the pipe with a return punch.
Milwaukee police and West Allis police traced about a dozen addresses in the two cities that Peters was known to have lived in past years. Anthony J. Peters has an extensive criminal history, including other assault charges.

Now, one year later as Tom runs for governor, he uses his wife in a commercial about how brave he was.
Now last moth:
Tom, this advertisement of yourself is cheap.
Who among us would not have done what you did?
“Man of Character?” This is not a real indicator, nor is the parallel you try to draw between you and McCain. That, buddy boy, is like the old “apples and oranges.”
I recall when you ignored, in my humble opinion, real character in action when you ignored http://www.Bikefree.org When these two young men came to town I think you should have greated them. The people and the media sure did. They gave up their jobs, in this sour economy, to bike across our nation. Their mission is to raise funds for the children of our fallen troops. Their goal is to deliver bikes to these kids this Christmas.
That, to me, is what I call character. By their actions, their selfless actions, with nothing like a job as Governor in it for them, they are helping sad little kids. You could not even help them and more importantly the children of our troops by doing a five min. photo-shoot.
I believe it says in Matt:6 that one should do good acts and then shut-up about them. In your case you are making yourself out as some hero.
Sorry Tommy, the heros are in Afghanistan and biking across America, and in many other places like our fire and police stations. Lives on the line at all times.
Good grief man.
