The Arlington Heights Police Department and Rotary honored Sgt. Michael J. Shabez as 2008 L.W. Calderwood Officer of the Year in a luncheon Thursday at the Wellington of Arlington Restaurant.

Joshua N. Wilson, 18, of the 300 block of Gierz Street, Downers Grove, was arrested around 3:20 a.m. Feb. 28 on the 0-100 block of Ferndale Road and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His court date is March 18.

With the area having escaped heavy rain overnight Tuesday, Des Plaines River water levels have peaked and begun to fall. The river peaked Tuesday afternoon at 6.65 feet and by midafternoon Wednesday had fallen to 6.51 feet.
