Video of house fire with roof operations at 1415 West Grove Street in Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights Fire Department received a report of a house fire about 10:30 a.m. Friday at 1415 West Grove Street. Heavy smoke was visible in the sky near Euclid Avenue and Arlington Heights Road. The fire was reported in the back of the house by a contractor that was working on roof repairs with a torch. When firefighters arrived, fire was showing through the roof.
A dog and a hamster were rescued from the home during the primary search of the residence, which occurs while firefighting is underway.
An extra alarm was called for neighboring fire departments to provide coverage for the rest of Arlington Heights while Arlington Heights firefighters worked at the fire scene. Fire departments from Glenview, Hoffman Estates and Lake Zurich stood by in Arlington Heights fire stations. Rolling Meadows Fire Department worked with Arlington Heights Fire Department at the fire scene.
The Grove Street fire is the second serious fire for Arlington Heights in less than a week with the fire department showing strong ability to knock down fires with extension to multiple sections of a building — while minimizing water damage (see North Kennicott Avenue fire).
