Monday, October 20, 2008 the music stops at NINE FM, which has trimulcast from Newsweb’s WDEK-FM (92.5) in DeKalb, WKIE-FM (92.7) in Arlington Heights and WRZA-FM (99.9) in Park Forest.
The FM frequencies will carry Chicago’ Progressive Talk (see WCPT820.com), previously only available on a limited transmitter on 820 AM known as a Daytimer radio station (FCC licenses only daytime use).
The station’s website states that WCPT 820 AM “believes that a blue city and a blue state deserve a Progressive Talk radio station that is entertaining, informative, irreverent and chock full of smart, funny shows with a progressive perspective.” The station is a liberal talk radio station.
WKIE-FM’s original studio was located on University Drive, just west of Arlington Heights Road. That studio building has been demolished and the new studio moved to Chicago, but the tower that transmits in Arlington Heights is still located near the original studio location. The original antenna was dismantled, but a newer tower, which carries other radio transmissions and cell phone transmission was erected closer to Buffalo Grove High School (just south of Arlington Heights Road) about 5 years ago.
Chicago’s Progressive Talk contact info is 6012 S. Pulaski Rd. Chicago, IL 60629

The three FM stations will continue to air “Dance Factory” (dance club, house, trance and hip hop music) overnights beginning most nights at 9, and 8 on Saturdays. The “We Play Anything” format played a large variety of popular music.
