A Sunday morning accident on northbound Route 53 at about 9:15 a.m. injured one woman, who was taken to Northwest Community Hospital. A minivan rolled over just north of the bridge over Woodfield Road between Higgins Road and Golf Road. Northbound Route 53 was backed up for less than one hour. Schaumburg Fire Department, Schaumburg Police Department, the Cook County Sheriff and the Illinois State Police managed the accident scene.
There are frequent accidents and rollovers on this stretch of Route 53 in both northbound and southbound lanes from Higgins Road to Algonquin Road, including the interchange with Interstate 90.
