Mark Walker Running to Serve as 66th District State Representative

... #ad▼

Democrat Mark Walker is running for the 66th district’s open seat, competing with Republican Chris Prochno. Current State Representative Carolyn Krause is retiring.

With a long list of endorsements and a willingness to go door-to-door to meet residents of Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect and Rolling Meadows; Mark Walker brings over 30 years of experience in the business world as a corporate executive and a local entrepreneur. Mark is currently Vice President of Walker Information, an international consulting firm.

Mark Walker enlisted in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War who received a Bronze Star. He is a strong advocate of veterans and wants to work to see that veterans receive state-of-the-art care from state facilities.

Walker also wants to work for tax fairness, better schools, protecting schools from sexual predators, strong job creation and economic opportunities, alternative energy sources, preservation of natural resources, and true-ethical reform. Walker recently spoke out against a campaign letter from Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson on village letterhead that endorses opponent Christine Prochno — and Elk Grove Village trustee. Walker points out a 2003 state ethics law that states, “Employees shall not intentionally misappropriate any state property or resources by engaging in any prohibited political activity for the benefit of any campaign for elective office.” A lawyer with the Illinois State Board of Elections has replied that the use of the village seal and letterhead is not a violation of the law as long as it was not written on government time or using government resources (Walker Takes Issue With Mayor’s Letter Journal Topics Newspapers, September 4, 2008).

Mark and his wife Joan have lived in Arlington Heights for 24 years and with their children have been involved in youth soccer, the Boy Scouts and other youth activities.

Running for the office of Illinois State Representative of District 66, Mark Walker, if elected, would serve residents in parts of Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect and Rolling Meadows.

Illinois State Representative District 66 includes Arlington Heights south of Northwest Highway and south of Kensington Road, Elk Grove Village north of Devon Avenue, Mount Prospect south of Kensington and south of west of Mount Prospect Road, and Rolling Meadows east of Plum Grove Road and east of Kirchhoff Road.
