Jon Stewart reacts to John Edwards interview with Bob Woodruff on Nightline August 8, 2008:
John Edwards:
“I made a very serious mistake. A mistake that I am responsible for … and no one else. All of my family knows about this. And just to be absolutely clear … none of them are responsible for it.”
John McCain talked about the mistakes that he’s made in his past in respect to his first marriage … I’m not the first person to do this … I don’t want to talk about that … that’s about somebody else.
John Stewart:
“This is about me and the woman John McCain slept with. I’m not sure your rationalizations can get much lower …”
John Edwards:
First of all it happened during a period after she (Elizabeth) was in remission from cancer.
John Stewart [SARCASM]:
“Yes, ‘I was just celebrating'” … “‘I wanted to shoot off fireworks, but they’re illegal.'”

Hypocrite … because John Edwards invited the public into his personal life to “look at what kind of human beings each of us are [he and his wife], and what kind of president we’d make.” as he said during his run for president. The sleazy senator put his private life on display in a showlight that his family life was ideal. He did this with a confident, warm smile and twinkle in his eye — even when he denied allegations that he had an affair. And he’s got the warm smile and twinkle when he says he would be glad to take a paternity test. Who’s happy to take a paternity test.
