Representatives from the city of Elgin, Judson University and the Chicago Bandits softball team have agreed in principle to a deal that would bring the Bandits to Elgin in 2008, city and university officials reported last week. The agreement will have the Bandits playing at Judson University for three years until a 4,400-seat city stadium is built, which will include a 45-acre entertainment and sports complex, two miniature golf courses, gardens, batting cages, restaurants and shops, a Santa’s Village-type amusement park and a 3-hole golf course on the site of the old Spartan Meadows Golf Course [MAP/SAT]. Approval of the agreement still awaits a decision from the Elgin City Council.
Judson University would benefit with a $350,000 upgrade to the university’s field, including new dugouts, new bleachers, improved night-game lighting and a new clay infield.
The Bandits have been playing at Benedictine University in Lisle.
